Osun State Court Sentences Man To Death By Hanging For Stealing N3,420

Mr Kayode Adedeji, An accused robber was sentenced to death by hanging on Wednesday for looting a lady of the whole of N3,420.

The indicting counsel from the state
Ministry of Justice, Mrs. Elisabeth Alabi, revealed to the court that Adedeji, while equipped with a knife, attacked the home of one Omowunmi Adebayo at the Bolorunduro region in Ilesa around 1:30am and stole her N3,420.

As indicated by Alabi, the charged individual, who stole the money had also committed a criminal offense on April 25, 2009, while caught with different hazardous weapons amid the midnight burglary.

The prosecutor clarified that 40-year-old Adedeji fled the scene of the theft yet was trailed and captured by a few individuals from the Oodua Peoples Congress in the region.

Adedeji was said to have argued not liable to the one-number charge of outfitted theft, when he was summoned around eight years back, and was allowed to go on bail.

The judge claimed said the accused had misused the bail benefit by committing another offense for which he was remanded in Ilesa jail.

In any case, when the case continued for continuation of hearing on Wednesday, Alabi, while displaying the reality of the case, contended that the offense was in opposition to and culpable under Section 11(2)(A) CAPR II, Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2004.

The judge, Justice Kudirat Akano, discovered Adedeji blameworthy of the wrongdoing.

The judge, Mr. Tunde Adedokun, implored the court to temper equity with benevolence in condemning the convict.

Conveying her judgment, Justice Akano requested that Adedeji be executed by hanging.
