Burnt To Death! 11 Dead As Fuel Tanker Collides With Bus Along Ife-Ibadan Express Way

It was a heartbroken sight along Ife-Ibadan Expressway on Sunday as 11 people, including children, were burnt to death after their 18-seater transport slammed into a fuel tanker.

The disaster which occurred around 11am was said to have happened as the
diesel-loaded tanker was attempting to drive past the roundabout when the traveler transport, purportedly slammed into it from behind.

The transport quickly went up on fire as travelers who had lost consciousnesses because of the way the transport smashed into the tanker, were all of a sudden caught inside.

9 travelers apparently kicked the bucket on the spot, while some other people who were saved, in the long run passed on.

One casualty was said to be in a basic condition at the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital in Ile Ife.

One of the inhabitants of Ile Ife, who was at the scene of the crash, told our journalist that the Nissan Urvan transport was likewise stacked with vehicle save parts scrap metal, which made it troublesome for the travelers to escape from the consuming vehicle.

The occupant, who recognized himself as Macdonald Oladipupo, stated, "The mishap occurred inverse Moremi Estate toward the beginning of today (Sunday). The tanker was making a U-turn, while the transport that was originating from Ore smashed into it.

"Nine of the travelers inside the transport passed on. A rescue group from the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital came for the rescue of others but I learnt that some of them later kicked the bucket."

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Osun State, Mr. Anthony Oko, affirmed the mishap to our reporter on the phone.

He stated, "Not less than 11 people passed on. A tanker was said to be making a U-turn and a transport originating from Ore slammed into it. The transport burst into flames and 11 of the travelers, including the driver kicked the bucket.

"The transport had 12 travelers and the rest of the traveler of the transport is in risk list at a doctor's facility. I simply implore he survives, however his condition is awful.

"He endured severely charred areas, however nothing happened to the tanker driver. He ran away instantly ."

Oko said the driver would be captured with the assistance of the police.

He spoke to drivers to dependably obey street signs and to ensure that their vehicles were in great condition before putting them out and about.
