A lot of OAU students have been asking the flywaterz media how true the ASUU warning strike is because they are Currently writing their 2015/2016 harmattan semester examination which is due to end by early next month, well we have finally gotten an answer for you.

News reaching the flywaterz media by our correspondents is that the
Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said its members nationwide will begin a one-week warning strike starting from Wednesday, November 16.

The warning strike is said to be aimed at compelling the federal government to address some pending and new issues.

According to a Statement signed by the ASUU National President Biodun Ogunyemi which has been pasted on OAU campus and seen by a correspondent of the flywaterz media, it has been said that the strike will be “total and comprehensive” and members of the Union are only to take instruction from their chairpersons during the period of the warning strike.
But it seems the strike will not be affecting OAU until the harmattan exams have been completed.

Also from the same statement, ASUU wants the FG to pay the earned academic allowances of its members, exempt universities from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) policy and also renegotiate the 2009 agreement.
Others are the registration of the Nigerian University Pension Management Committee (NUPEMCO) and funding for the revitalization of public universities based on the FGN-ASUU MoU of November 2013. The non-payment of salaries of staff in the primary schools and shortfall in salaries leading to payment of fractions of staff salaries are other contentious issues.

With this, Any truncation of exams this period as a result of a strike action would extend the relatively stable academic calendar for the session.
